How to Improve WooCommerce SEO Using Google Search Console Data

Most WooCommerce store owners approach SEO the same way: guess at keywords, stuff them into product titles, and hope for the best.

There's a better way — and it starts with data you already have.

What Google Search Console tells you

Google Search Console shows you exactly how your pages are performing in search:

  • **Impressions**: how many times your page appeared in search results
  • **Clicks**: how many people actually clicked through
  • **CTR (click-through rate)**: clicks divided by impressions
  • **Average position**: where you rank on average

This data is gold for SEO. A page with 10,000 impressions but a 0.5% CTR is screaming for a better title tag. A page ranking position 8 with high impressions is one good push away from page one.

The high-impressions, low-CTR opportunity

The most valuable pages to optimize are ones where:

1. You already have impressions (Google is showing you) 2. But your CTR is below average (users aren't clicking)

For product pages, average CTR by position looks roughly like this: - Position 1: ~28% - Position 3: ~11% - Position 5: ~7% - Position 10: ~2%

If you're position 5 with 1% CTR, your title isn't compelling enough. That's a fixable problem.

How to act on this data

**Step 1**: Export your GSC data filtered to your product pages. Sort by impressions descending, then look at CTR.

**Step 2**: For pages with high impressions and below-average CTR, rewrite the title tag. Make it more specific, add the primary keyword closer to the front, and include a reason to click (price, offer, unique feature).

**Step 3**: For pages ranking 6–15, these are your "quick win" pages — one position improvement here can double or triple your clicks. Improve the title and meta description to match the exact search intent.

**Step 4**: Monitor weekly. SEO changes take 2–6 weeks to show up in GSC data.

Doing this at scale

Manually pulling GSC data and rewriting titles one by one works for 10 pages. It doesn't work for 500.

That's exactly what Personal AI SEO automates. It pulls your GSC data, scores each page by opportunity, and generates optimised titles and meta descriptions in bulk — which you review and approve before anything goes live.

The result: you spend 20 minutes reviewing suggestions instead of 20 hours rewriting titles manually.
